More importantly, Google Fit can work as a standalone health tracker. The app can monitor your walking, running, and cycling (no swimming, though). Goals based on duration or total steps can be established, with Fit keeping you aware of your progress throughout each day. Third-party apps (like Runtastic) and fitness trackers (like Fitbit) can also tap into Google’s platform and input your health data. Confirmed partners at launch earlier this year included Nike, HTC, LG, Withings, Motorola, Noom, Runtastic, RunKeeper, and Polar. More fitness trackers and apps are expected to use Google Fit’s APIs in the near future. Google Fit can also be accessed via the Web too. Although this fitness app follows Google’s new Material Design guidelines, Google Fit is available to all users running Android 4.0 and newer. One can expect Google Fit to be a battery hog, but we can confirm only after we thoroughly test the app. Download Google Fit for Android
