The Mi5 comes equipped with a 5.15-inch FHD display accompanied by the 2.5D curved glass and Gorilla Glass 4 Protection. The design of Mi5 looks like it was evolved from the Mi Note Pro, albeit much smaller. The flagship will draw its power from the top of the line Snapdragon 820 SoC paired with a range topping 4GB LPDDR4 RAM (on 128GB only) and an Adreno 530 GPU. The storage options offered are in the form of 32GB, 64GB and 128GB, but alas Xiaomi still doesn’t think it’s important enough to have a microSD card slot....

As far as specifications are concerned, the Redmi 4 comes with a 5-inch 720p display up front with 2.5D curved glass and flaunts the signature unibody metal body with three off-screen capacitive buttons and measures only 8.65mm in thickness. It does come with a protection on top of the display, but Xiaomi isn’t telling the name of that. Furthermore, it is powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 435 octa-core chipset. There are two storage and RAM options available – 2GB RAM + 16GB onboard space or you can shed some extra for getting the 3GB + 32GB combo....

Design In terms of appearance, the Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro look similar and share the same new design language with quad cameras on the back, three new colour options: Mineral Grey, Pearl White, and Forest Green, a gradient back, a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner for authentication, and IP52 rating (Redmi Note 8 Pro). A fresh report coming from well-connected author Kara Swisher from Re/code publication is now suggesting that Yahoo! could be planning to unveil a new messaging app at a press event sometime this week. The event was initially believed to be related to a new version of the Tumblr or Flickr apps, but Swisher seems to suggest it will be about a new messaging product. Yahoo could simply be planning to announce a new Android version of its new Livetext chat app that has been recently released for iOS users....

Yes, when The Matrix was released in 1999, smartphones were not quite the rage, although PDAs were making their presence felt (hey, Apple had one, remember!). But The Matrix trilogy used mobile phones pretty much the way it used sunglasses – to look cool as hell (yes, we know that sounds weird) rather than as super futuristic devices. A proper, full, front on battle in the budget flagship segment. Yes, we are talking to the constant sniping by Xiaomi’s new brand Poco, at the incumbent budget flagship champion, OnePlus. While we have seen our share of brand battles, this one is rather unusually sharp, although to be fair, it is rather one-sided at the moment (OnePlus has not deigned to react). It might be one of the most talked about segments of the Indian smartphone market, but the budget flagship segment – where brands offer high-end specs at surprisingly affordable prices – can hardly be ever have been said to be bitterly contested....

Looks and design: Loud vs classy (and glassy) We often complain that most smartphones today pretty much follow a broadly similar design outline these days. While this somewhat fits the Redmi Note 10 Pro’s design, the same cannot be said about the Poco X3 Pro. Poco has managed to make a smartphone that would most definitely stand out of your average-looking smartphone crowd. The smartphone comes with a circular camera unit on the back which comes as a breath of fresh air in the era of all-things-rectangular, and also brings in a flashy dual-tone finish back....

And it certainly does have the potential to turn heads, although its design is going to divide some opinions. It is a more rounded look and borrows more from the Realme 3 than the Realme 2 Pro, which had a straighter look about it. Speaking for ourselves, we rather like the appearance of the Realme 3 Pro. The front of course, as is the rule these days, is all about the 6....

Of course, its biggest appeal is its price – at Rs 9,999 for the 4 GB/ 64 GB variant (there’s also a 6 GB/ 128 GB one for Rs 12,999), the Note 8 offers staggering value for money and is priced almost a third lesser than its pro counterpart. With a lower price, however, come some compromises and the big question is just how many corners does the device cut?...
