Dual Cameras The Galaxy Note 8 is Samsung’s first smartphone to come with a dual rear camera setup and considering how late it has hopped the bandwagon, the company added a couple of nifty hardware bits in an attempt to outrun its competition. For starters, there are two 12-megapixel shooters on the back, one is a f/1.7 wide-angle lens and other is a f/2.4 telephoto. While this arrangement, just like every other implementation out there, will allow you add depth-of-field effects to your pictures, Samsung also included Optical Image Stabilization to the secondary camera....

The smartphone revolution that followed in the wake of iOS and Android brought in standardisation as regards audio and charging ports – we saw almost all manufacturers accepting the 3.5mm audio jack pretty much as a standard for audio and the micro-USB port for charging and data transfer. The Alibaba Tmall Genie X1 is powered by a Genie AI assistant. The intelligent voice assistant can be triggered by simply saying ‘Tmall Genie’. Just like the Alexa on Echo and Google Assistant on Home, Alibaba’s AI service is capable of performing a wide range of tasks. Currently, the assistant can play music, search weather, take down notes and set reminders. It can even control smart home appliances. Alibaba believes that the assistant will also make it easy for users to shop on it e-commerce portal....

Apple and Samsung were initially rumored to be closely working on this technology. The Cupertino giant is, in fact, expected to include this technology in its upcoming iPhone 8. Chinese analyst Pan Jiutang, however, believes that Vivo will outrun the companies in launching a smartphone with an optical fingerprint sensor. The new Mi Max 2 takes cues from the Mi6 in terms of the back panel and opts this time for rounded edges which Xiaomi says provides much more comfortable one-handed use. Of course, despite all those promises, you won’t be able to operate the Max 2 with a single arm considering the whopping 6.44-inch Full HD panel up front and off-screen capacitive buttons. Moreover, the battery has been bumped up to 5300mAh battery that the company claims can run for two days on a single charge....

The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S comes equipped with a 6-inch FHD+ display. Design wise the new Mi Mix 2S borrows heavily from its predecessor. The curved ceramic back and the aluminum frame blend in beautifully and the display seem to sit flush within the panel with no inconsistencies whatsoever. Thankfully, Xiaomi has decided not to go for a front notch and this means that the front camera unit still sits in the bottom jaw of the screen....
