It has been around for more than a decade now and despite all the barbs shot at it by the competition, the iPhone remains special. Why so? Well, these seven factors might have something to do with it: Inspiring a lot of design imitation…or flattery A lot of what the idea of the iPhone is about stems from the way the series has looked over the years. Just like certain features, Apple has also managed to bring certain smartphone design elements in the limelight which were then scooped up by the rest of the world like free cakes....

While Safari will let you download files, there are some problems with it. Firstly, Safari won’t show a progress bar, so if you’re downloading a 200 MB file on a slow connection, you’re basically praying to the ghost of Steve Jobs that the download doesn’t time out. Plus, once the file is downloaded, you’ll be asked to open it in an app, and then the file belongs to that app’s storage....

Update: Jailbreak iPhone 3.1.2 with blackra1n RC3 for 05.11.07 baseband also Apple released the iPhone software update – OS 3.1.2 few days back and the latest firmware update contains a baseband firmware update 5.11.04 like firmware 3.1 and it’s is not compatible with Ultrasn0w. Unlock baseband 5.11.04 cannot be done with any utility as such. But thankfully, the iPhone Dev team has released the PwnageTool program that let’s you update your main firmware without touching your baseband firmware....

The new JioPhone comes with the much awaited Dual SIM functionality, as the gripe with the first edition was that it was a single SIM device, which was carrier locked to Jio, which meant users could not use their already existing SIM cards on their JioPhones, which now seems to be addressed. JioPhone 2 also sports a larger 2.4-inch QVGA display, a battery capacity of 2000mAh, and SD card slot with support for up to 128GB, a 2MP rear as well as a VGA front camera, 512MB of RAM coupled with 4GB of internal storage, and will have support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth Low Energy, GPS, NFC and of course, VoLTE as well as VoWiFi....

As per a report by Breitbart, LeEco has paid nearly $143 million more than what Yahoo had incurred to acquire the land back in 2006. Incidentally, the plot located near Levi Stadium, which the Chinese firm has now acquired at a rate of $5.2 million per acre had been lying unoccupied for the past few years and was only being used occasionally for parking a few vehicles. The report further reveals that LeEco is approved by the city government to build a 3 million square feet office space, housing nearly 12,000 employees on the aforementioned plot....

Leica has been building binoculars and military inspired cameras, which sort of means that you can trust them here. Although Leica had been toying around with great optical stuff, they never made a go anywhere rugged camera and the Leica X-U indicates a change of mind. The X-U comes with a 3-inch display at the rear but what is noticeably missing is the view finder. The waterproof feature will let you immerse the camera up to 49 feet for a maximum time of 60 minutes....

While Samsung and Apple continue to rule the smartphone world, with 32.1% and 12.1% market share respectively, Lenovo has blazed past LG with 5.1% market share as compared to 4.8% for the other Korean giant. As per the report released by Gartner, there were more than Out455 million smartphones shipped in Q3 of 2013, and Lenovo accounted for 12.9 million units, up 84.5 percent year-on-year. Lenovo continues to sell well in Chinese markets, and has only now set its eyes outside Asia-Pacific....

The LG Signature Edition is essentially a revamped V30 which was launched earlier this year. It dumps the glass back of the LG V30 for a more premium zirconium ceramic back cover. The presence of ceramic makes the back of the LG Signature Edition smartphone scratch resistant. Previously we have seen OEMs like OnePlus, Xiaomi use a ceramic back for its smartphones. Internally, the LG Signature Edition uses a 6-inch QHD+ OLED Full Vision display....

LinkedIn has updated its services to shoe the commute time and the location of a particular business to the job seekers. This is something that is intended to help job seekers decide on whether or not they want to work in a particular company. The feature is called ‘Your Commute’ and is already rolled out globally on the LinkedIn smartphone app. LinkedIn already has access to the location information of the company’s and the feature will soon be rolled out for desktop as well....

The discount seems to be available only on the official Skullcandy India website, for other e-retail portals are featuring the headphones at a slightly higher price (generally north of Rs 15,000). Rather expensive at launch… Now, at their launch price of Rs 27,999 in late 2019, the Crusher ANC had struck as being definitely on the higher side. This was because although they did deliver booming bass and decent ANC, they were getting into the range of the likes of the Jabra Elite 85h, the Bose 700, and the Sony WH 1000 XM3 (the XM4 had not been released then, but we would consider them to be candidates as well), that did not deliver the same sort of thumping bass but generally came with way better sound clarity, design, and other features....

The Indian government’s HRD ministry had teamed up with Canada based Datawind Technologies to manufacture 1 million units of Aakash tablets priced at Rs.2250 ($43). During the pilot run, Datawind was supposed to provide the HRD ministry with 1 lakh Aakash units, out of which they had delivered just 30,000 units. Though the tablet specs looked good on paper, with Android 2.2 OS, 366 MHz processor, 2100mAh battery & two USB ports, in reality the tablet was met with a lot of criticisms concerning its poor build quality and user experience....

India has always been on the forefront when it comes to mobile first e-commerce customers and at the hindsight the move seems obvious. The app only push in case of Myntra didn’t go well with the consumers but it seems that the buyers will eventually cave in and in the process forego a major transition in the way we shop, which is more like a steep learning curve for both the companies and the consumers....

On the imaging front, the Helio X30 is said to offer faster image processing supporting a resolution of up to 28-Megapixel at 30fps. Hardware support for video includes video encode up to 4K at 30Hz with HEVC and VP9, 2560×600 pixel displays at a frame rate of 60Hz, and 1080p displays at a frame rate of 120Hz, the chip also comes with better audio support including a range of 120 dB SNR and -100 dB THD....

Google Pixel Buds are a Bluetooth powered earphone that can be carried around in a pocket-sized fabric charging case. It is, in fact, the first wireless earphones from Google. The earbuds are circular in shape and come in three color options – Kinda Blue, Clearly White and Just Black – enough to match the new Pixel 2 phone. Ok, Google! The Google Pixel Buds feature a wide range of gesture controls including swipes or touches to change songs, answer phone calls and even adjust volume....

Just like its predecessors, the new TVs come with both Xiaomi’s own proprietary Patchwall interface as well as Android TV. The Armlogic 960X chipset at the core powers both TVs with the larger 4X Pro 55-inch getting 2GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage whereas the smaller 4A Pro 43-inch settles for 1GB of RAM with the same 8GB of internal storage. Both panels are backlit instead of edge-lit and the larger 55-inch variant sports a 10-bit panel for a wider colour gamut while the 43-inch variant has an 8-bit one....

The Micromax Canvas Infinity Pro comes equipped with a 5.7-inch Full Vision HD display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. As per the manufacturer, the phone is symmetrically designed in a curve so in order to help achieve a better ergonomics and thus facilitate single hand usage. Under the hood, the Canvas Infinity Pro comes powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 paired with 4GB of RAM. On the storage front, the device offers 64GB of internal memory along with an expandable memory card slot that can accommodate up to 128GB....

While the GIF feature is already added to the toolbar, the location and the calendar features will be arriving soon. The location sharing will initially be available in India and the US. SwiftKey users will be able to send the address of a nearby location in a message. The calendar feature will allow users to create appointments and reminders directly from their keyboard and insert the same on messaging platforms....

Compact Light and Dark Themes The Firefox 53 which was in beta till now comes with a number of cosmetic changes too. It now has an option for two new preset themes – Compact Light and Compact Dark. These themes completely change the look and feel of the browser. On enabling this theme, the tabs become squarish, similar to the one seen in the Microsoft Edge.
