We first got the glimpse of the Britecell sensor when the trademark application was leaked earlier this month and according to the application Samsung would be incorporating a larger camera sensor. It doesn’t take much effort to guess that Samsung will most probably end up using the Britecell in its upcoming Flagship the Galaxy S7 and its siblings. The Britecell announcement comes after Samsung recently pulled the wraps from its Exynos 8 Octa 8890 SoC which would be manufactured by the company’s 14nm FinFET fabrication process and within it will be baked Samsung’s first in house processor core which will still follow 64-bit ARM instructions....

The Gear 360 is a tiny spherical camera made up of double lens and capable of shooting 360-Degree photos and videos. If observed carefully, you might notice that the camera is flat at the bottom so that it can rest on the flat surfaces and it also latches in to a standard tripod mount. The controls on the Gear 360 at the outside are kept to bare minimal with just the record, menu and power buttons....

On the ViewPoint talkshow with Eliot Spitzer, three whistle blowers from the National Security Agency (NSA), Thomas Drake, Kirk Wiebe and William Binney have expressed their allegations surrounding NSA’s illegal domestic surveillance measures. The whistle blowers specifically refer to 9/11 as the date after which electronic surveillance has taken new heights. This means that enormous amounts of email, cell phone conversations have been stored and surveilled, as Eliot Spitzer puts it....

Only this time the prices have been surprising not in comparison with the competition, darlings, but with their own devices. I mean, that sweetheart Manu Jain (he’s so handsome! I said it again!) was comparing the Redmi 5 with a Motorola and a Samsung device in the launch video, but when he announced the prices, you know, I was wondering whether he should have also included some of his own devices in the comparison, no?...

The good news is that all these portable devices can be charged faster, in most cases. Depending on the manufacturer, model and the operating system deployed, different methods can be applied to boost the power transmitted by the source and decrease charging times significantly, without major downsides. How to reduce charging times for mobile devices There is no wonder application or magic trick that will boost our charging output and decrease the total time (maybe wireless, who knows), but we do know a couple of practices that should do well-enough....

1. Xiaomi Mi A2 – for camera magic! – Rs 16,999 The latest addition to the stock Android bandwagon is Xiaomi’s Mi A2. The company launched the device recently in India and just like its predecessor (the Mi A1), it is part of the Android One initiative, which means Stock Android minus the MIUI skin. The company says, in order to facilitate secure and spam-free communication to its users, it has built an invitation-based mechanism for the Group Chat. By doing so, users get to the freedom to either ‘accept’ or ‘decline’ an invitation for a group chat. In case they decline the invitation, the feature ensures that not even the group admin can directly add them to the group. Furthermore, to offer privacy to its users, the feature hides the contact number of users in the group, unless, they have the other user’s contact number saved on their device, or they request them to see their contact number....

The feature seems to be, however, currently inactive since it’s not being updated in spite of our manual testing. We’re also not sure whether it will be limited to everyone or just Pro subscribers. If you’d like to be an early tester, you can either join the beta programme and update the application to version 9.4.9 or simply sideload an APK file which can be found here. In addition to the profile feature, Truecaller’s Android app now also has a “Local services” tab in the side menu which shows nearby landmarks in various categories such as ATM, hospitals, banks, hotels, and more....

We shall find the pros and cons of Ubuntu 11.04 vis-a-vis Windows 7. Even though Ubuntu is evolving over a period of years as an open source OS, it was not much successful in desktop line with some exception in deployment in servers and embedded systems. As Ubuntu is free software, you are free to use and distribute. You can customize the OS to the maximum possible extent. The only cost involved in procuring Ubuntu OS is your download time from the site....

Now, a fresh rumor from BuzzFeed suggests that the upcoming Android M software version will feature native support for fingerprint authentication. Of course, there are already plenty of Android device which feature fingerprint readers but they are using software built specifically by the OEM. With this new native feature, Google wants to make it easier for phone-making companies to include a fingerprint scanner in their devices. ArsTechnica too says that there have been hints in AOSP (Android Open Source Project, the Google leaded project for Android) that fingerprint readers were a planned feature....
